BOYNTON ROSSI brings deep experience in hotel and hospitality design, shaped by work on internationally recognised resorts, landmark hotel refurbishments and boutique hospitality venues.

Director Alison Ross and Senior Interior Designer Lauren Christensen have delivered complex projects across Australia and the United Kingdom, combining guest experience, operational flow and strong design identity.

The result is hotel environments that feel distinctive, operate seamlessly and stand the test of time.

Prestige Hotels & Resorts

As a junior interior designer, Alison secured a role with renowned hotel, resort and multi-residential architecture firm DBI on the Gold Coast.

She quickly gained experience on major projects including Q1, Sea Temple Resorts in Port Douglas and Palm Cove, Peppers Blue on Blue at Magnetic Island and Waves Motel in Byron Bay. Alison also contributed to Gold Coast residential developments including The Wave, Ultra on Broadbeach, Verve and Circle on Cavill.

During her time at DBI, Alison developed expertise in bespoke furniture procurement, finishes and fittings specification, and fine detailing. Her work led to opportunities designing penthouse refurbishments at Conrad Jupiter’s Casino and luxury redevelopments at Main Beach.

Experience across public spaces, restaurants and hotel rooms cemented Alison’s passion for the hospitality sector, where she continues to specialise in bars, restaurants and hotel refurbishments.

Hotel Transformations

In 2012, Alison took on the role of Interior Designer and Project Coordinator with Geyer for the NEXT Hotel Brisbane project.

The project involved reconfiguring key public spaces including reception, Lennon’s Restaurant, the pool deck and retail precincts, refurbishing existing hotel suites, converting ten floors of office space into new suites and upgrading base building infrastructure throughout.

Alison coordinated consultants and design teams while managing the flow of information across an international project team. Drawing on her experience in hospitality design, she later led the redesign of the restaurant and lobby level as well as the hotel suite refurbishment.

The 4.5-star NEXT Hotel Brisbane opened in October 2014 and was widely recognised as a new benchmark for contemporary hotel experiences. It was later acquired by the Hyatt Regency brand and remains largely unchanged from its original design.

Boutique Hotels

In late 2004, the owners of Malmaison Brand Ltd, a boutique hotel group in the UK, acquired the Hotel du Vin chain and began an ambitious expansion across the United Kingdom. An in-house interior design team was established to deliver both refurbishments and new hotels.

Lauren Christensen joined as Assistant to the Director of Design and within 12 months was leading her own projects, including the new Hotel du Vin in Cambridge which opened in 2007.

Working with the architect, engineers, heritage consultants and contractor, five Grade II listed townhouses were transformed into 41 individually designed hotel rooms and suites, along with a basement bar, wine tasting room, lounge and bistro.

Each room was uniquely detailed with bespoke layouts, furniture and bathrooms, combining refined design with the building’s original character, including exposed brickwork and restored fireplaces.

In 2008, Hotel du Vin Cambridge was named one of Condé Nast Traveller’s 65 new Hot Hotels worldwide, and its cellar bar won Best Hotel Bar in London and South England at the Theme Bar & Restaurant Awards.
